The Bangla Noboborsho was celebrated for the first time since the time of Somrat Akbar. At that time, the farmers of Bengal paid the rent of zamindars, talukdars and other landholders till the last day of Chaitra month. The next day, the landowners distribute the sweets to the farmers. On this occasion, fairs and other functions were arranged.
