Shab E Barat 2021 Bangladesh, India & Pakistan – Shab e Barat means “Night of fate” or “Night of fortunes”. Shab e Barat is the night when the fortunes for the upcoming year of men and women are decided and finalized by Allah. It is also noted that Allah forgives the sins of many people this night. Shab e Barat History

Shab e Barat is observed in Mid-Shaban according to the Arabic Calendar. Shab e Barat also known as Laylat al Baraat, Lailatul Dua, Nim Sha’ban called in Iran, Nisf Sha’ban called in Arabic countries, Nisfu Sya’ban in Malay speaking countries, Berat Kandili called in Turkish. The word Shab e Barat is only used in South Asian Countries.
In the celebration of Shab e Barat, there are no direct sources of this night in the Holy Quran. But, in any case, a few indications of this day can be found in “Siah Sittah” alongside some hadith books. There is history that can be found in the hadith portrayed by Imam Al-Tirmidhi. As per the hadith, one night the wife of Prophet Hazrat Mohammad (SM) woke up however she couldn’t discover Hazrat Mohammad (SM) in bed. At that point, she begins to discover him and she found him in Jannatul Baki’s burial ground. The prophet said that in the evening of Shaban, Allah goes to the closest sky and pardons a larger number of individuals than the measure of hair on the goats of ‘Bani Kalb’. Desserts are prepared and sent to loved ones. Muslims are performing acts of charity and donating products to the poor for the sake of their expired relatives. Also, flowers are set on the graves of the perished.
Shab-e-Barat keeps going through the whole night and into the early afternoon of the next day. It is trusted that if prayers are offered to Almighty Allah all through the whole time of Shab-e-Barat, forgiveness might be achieved for sins submitted previously and favorable luck guaranteed for the coming year. A few Muslims are also fasting all through the whole day of Shab-e-Barat.

There are some well-known facts and quotes in Shab e Barat. They are-
 Prophet Mohammad (SM) discouraged his companions, Abu Huraira in particular, from fasting before the 15th of Shaban because he feared for their physical health. Therefore, this night marks the night when Muslims may begin fasting again after Ramadan.
 Lailatul Barat is called Lailatul Nisf min Shaban in the Arab World, which translates to the night in the mid-Shaban. In Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, and however, Shab-e-Barat is used, which means ‘Night of fortunes’.
 A companion of Prophet Mohammad (SM), Usama Ibn Zaid, asked him, Messenger of Allah, I have seen you fasting in the month of Shaban so frequently that I have never seen you fasting in any other month. Prophet Muhammad replied: That (Sha’ban) is a month between Rajab and Ramadan which is neglected by many people. And it is a month in which an account of the deeds (of human beings) is presented before the Lord of the universe, so, I wish that my deeds be presented at a time when I am in a state of fasting.

Shab e Barat is the night of blessing and forgiveness. In this night, Almighty Allah (SWT) spreads the hand of mercy. The Muslim community seeks forgiveness from the Almighty Allah. There are no specific prayers to perform on this night. But Muslim Ummah perform the following acts for worship-
 Salah: On the night of Lailatul Barat, Salah is the most common action to be performed. There is no particular number of Rakat but preferably it should not be less than twelve. It is also advisable that each part of the Salah like qiyam, rukoo’, and sijdah should be longer than normal time. The longest surah’s of the Holy Qur’an one remembers by heart should be recited in the Salah of this night. If someone does not remember the long surah’s, he can also recite several short surahs in one rakah.
 Salatul Tasbeeah: Salatul Tasabeeah is the most famous Salaat performed on these nights. The Tasbih to be read in Salaat-Ul-Tasbeeh, Shab Barat Dua translation in English-
” Subhaan Allahi Wal Hamdulillahi Wa Laa ilaha illal Laahu Wallahu Akbar ”
 Tilawa: The most valuable prayer in this night is the recitation of the Holy Quran. After performing Salah, or at any other time, one should recite as much of the Holy Quran as he can.
 Dhikr: One should also perform dhikr on this holy night. One should recite Darood on Prophet Hazrat Mohammad(SM), as many times as one can. The dhikr can also be recited while walking, lying on the bed, and during other hours of work or in free time.
 Keep fasting: According to the Hadith Sharif which is narrated by Ibn e Habaan that Rasoolullah (SM) said: “When the night of 15th Shaban arrives to spend the night awake and keep fasting in the next day”.

For the proof of the Lailatul Barat, the following verses of the Holy Quran are cited:
“Indeed, we have sent it (the Quran) down on a blessed night. Surely, we are the warner. In this night, judgment is given on all matters of wisdom by our command.” (Surah Ad-Dukhan, 44:3-5).

Al-Tirmidhi Hadith 1299 Narrated by Aisha Alaihi Salam-
I missed Allah’s Messenger during this night and got him in Al-Baqi. He said that, were you afraid that Allah and His Messenger would deal unjustly with you? I said, O Allah’s Messenger, I was thought that you had gone to some of your other wives. The Prophet Mohammad (SM) said that verily Allah, the exalted and glorious, comes down to the heaven of the world in the middle night of Shaban and forgives sins even more abundant than the hair of the goats of Kalb.
As reported by Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah, and Razin, and Tirmidhi said that I heard it from Prophet Mohammad (SM) that he deemed it to be a weak hadith.
